Meet the Team

Picture
Lennox Community Gardens is an incorporated not-for-profit community group led by a management committee. Elections take place at our AGMs which are held in December of each year.

Graham Bond
President & Secretary

Our tireless president claims to be a supremely incompetent gardener, he had his hands in the soil from a young age though, 'tending' the flower beds for an unfortunate North London cemetery.
Always up for a chat about sport or chocolate brownies, also, now, nematodes & Jaboticabas!
He see the gardens as “a special place, bringing people together."

Grant Jenkins
Vice President

Grant has had an interest in gardening since he was a youngster, but it wasn't until he had his own patch of ground here in Lennox Head that this casual interest has become a passion. Growing quality organic vegetables and particularly fruit (rare sub-tropical and tropical) makes perfect sense to him from every angle. Great for your health and mind, not taxing on our environment, challenging and hopefully even social.

Torsten Lachmann
Treasurer

Torsten likes numbers and fresh food, so this is the perfect gig for him.

Jacqui Lachmann
Committee Member

Jacqui is motivated by a desire to live more sustainably and healthily within a resilient community. As a novice gardener, she is also keen to learn from others in order to grow more food for her family. For Jacqui, the community garden ticks all the boxes!

Jenny Bond
Committee Member

Jenny started gardening many years ago in her parent’s multiple veggie patches and later on their tomato seed farm.  In the last few years she has become committed to permaculture and all aspects of sustainable agriculture. For Jenny the community gardens has been a great way to put these principles into practice and meet with other people wanting to explore similar ideas.

John
Committee Member

John is indispensable to the gardens. He can fix anything and is a champion lawn mower and composter.

Louise
Committee Member
Lou writes for a living, so it was natural that she’d be put in charge of our social media. She’s passionate about simple, sustainable living, building community and food security, and growing (and eating!) foods that suit our local soils and climate. She also loves being able to jump into the ocean after a sweaty gardening session!

Vonette Cornu
