Peanut Butter Fruit
Bunchosia argentea
Grown from seedling

Blooms with clusters of bright yellow flowers, which produce olive-sized oval fruits that ripen to a deep, glossy orange-red.

The fruit has a dense, sweet flesh that has a texture similar to peanut butter or sweet potato, and is best eaten straight off the tree as soon as it turns deep red and soft, but you will have to be quick to beat the birds! Fruit can be picked light orange and bench ripened.  Ideal for jams, jellies, preserves, muffins and the like.  Especially good when blended into a milkshake.  The flesh can also be dehydrated, or frozen.

Native to South America.
