Poshte
Annona scleroderma
Annonaceae family
Grown from seedling

The Poshte in the same family as the Custard Apple, and is quite rare in Australia.  It is one of the least-known fruit trees of the genus, but has a reputation as one of the best eating.

Like most Annonas the fruit is best tree ripened and consumed shortly after picking (when ripe the fruit will have a blackened skin).  It has a very smooth, creamy flesh, with a rich aroma and pineapple-banana flavour, a perfect balance of sweet and a tad of tart.

Native to the Atlantic coast of South America.
