The Ubajai blooms in early spring - the flowers are typical of Myrtaceae, appearing in the leaf axils, and are white, solitary with up to fifty stamens. About two months later it produces fruits, producing a yellow colour fruit of up to 5cm diameter.
The orange pulp of the fruit is edible, with a very juicy, slightly tart aftertaste when fully ripe (when fully ripe, the fruits have a bad smell). The taste is similar to peach.
Native to Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay.
Can reach 10m in height.
